Stone Mountain Highland Games return October 15-16, 2011 outside of Atlanta, Georgia.  There in Stone Mountain State Park, you will be joined by 500 pipers representing 30 pipe bands from as far away as Texas as well as 114 Scottish Clans and Societies will be in attendance.  The games date back to 1973 and is one of the oldest Scottish festivals in the south. Throughout the weekend will be a number of events including: Scottish Highland Dancing, Children’s Highland Games, competitive piping and drumming, Tossing of the Caber, the Sheaf Toss, the Scottish Hammer Throw and the Stone of Strength.  There’s music from Rathkeltair and Atlanta’s own Keltic Kudzu, as well as music from Scotland’s North Sea Gas and Ireland’s Stonewall.  Find out more at www.SMHG.org.
